A sneak peek

I sent this information over to our DJ yesterday. He's not handling the ceremony, that will be done by the organist at the church. All of the ceremony music will be just instrumental, actually just organ.

As for the party, well as you can see we've got some songs that are MUST plays and some that are DO NOT play. I conceded and finally let The Hustle go through. I don't plan on dancing it, but it does get people, lots and lots of people on the dance floor, so why not?

Here's what our wedding music is like so far:

Ceremony
Parents and Siblings: “You Raise Me Up” Josh Groban
Attendants: “Glasgow Love Theme” from Love, Actually
Bride: “Grow Old With You” from The Wedding Singer
Recessional: “I Got Rhythm” by Ira Gershwin from the musical Crazy For You

 Reception
Entrance for attendants: Eye of the Tiger
Entrance for Jeff and Meg: “Hockey Night in Canada Theme Song” (Old version)
First Dance: “You and I” by Ingrid Michaelson
Parents Dance (Meg and Dad, Jeff and Mom): “Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World” by Iz Kamakawiwo’ole

Don’t Play: Country songs (unless they are crossover songs), Hard core rap, Polkas, Chicken Dance, Hokey Pokey
Do Play:
“The Luckiest” by Ben Folds (Maybe for an anniversary dance or just a special dance)
“Waste” by Phish
“I Gotta Feeling” by the Blackeyed Peas
“Firework” by Katy Perry
“Jai Ho” by Pussycat Dolls and someone else (it’s from Slumdog Millionaire)
“Apple Bottom Jeans”

And just because I love it and want you all to hear it, this is a piano version of "Grow Old With You". I seriously get tears in my eyes thinking of that playing as I look at Jeff while I'm walking towards him.

Love it!!! The song for you guys entering the reception is priceless. And I love that Ingrid song for the first dance. Not that you need my approval, but TEXAS APPROVES.

I love the Ingrid song, too! It suits you. No chicken dance?

When CGMan and I married, the Marine (who was 12 at the time) convinced the DJ to play "Peaches" by the Presidents of the United States of America. It was his favortie song at the time. The 6 year old Skater is the only one who danced. LOL

Great songs! I wish you luck keeping the chicken dance from going off! :)

I watched "Love, Actually" for the first time this spring, which made me think of Christmas when I didn't want to be actually BE thinking of Christmas, but it was the only time I could actually get the DVD from Netflix. I can't believe I'd never seen it before! I think picking that song is a great choice.
